Despite knowing that I'm 'only 20 and have so much more to learn', I've kind of grown accustomed to thinking that I have all the answers; in a weird nonsensical kind of way. Recently I realised everything 'they' say is true; I don't.
I haven't felt like this in awhile.
Even though it scares me senseless and makes me feel like resorting to my sixteen year old way of dealing with things -watching Marie Antoinette and drinking tea - there's a small part of me that is grateful that I can still feel this way sometimes.
I am only 20 and I do have so much more to learn.

Every time a year comes to a close we feel inclined to reflect on the year that's passed; evaluate what's changed, make a note of how different things are now. But the truth for me is, I am constantly doing this. I live for reminiscence; the good and the bad, even the embarrassing - I find myself doing this a lot.
After looking back over 2011 I've come to the decision that it was probably the best year of my life. And without going into too many intricate details, it's safe to say that 2011 wasn't just the best year of my life because of all the great stuff that happened; 2011 was the best year of my life because I know that this is the year that will potentially pave the way for future best years. I feel like I know what I want a little better, what I could achieve, what I want to achieve.
This excites me!

Just a few of my favourite gifts I received this Christmas! I spent my long weekend with my family/s and boyfriend, ate waaaaay too much (and am still making my way through the leftovers) and napped a lot. As stressful as this time of year can be, once the day actually comes everything seems to calm down. I had such a relaxed time and can honestly say that I really valued Christmas this year, because it really went so fast. It's the simple things like driving in the sun with the radio blasting to visit relatives on Christmas Eve, to eating chocolates at 2am while playing computer games with my boyfriend that I will always treasure about this past festive season.

I am torn between the kind of lifestyle I want to have in the not-so distant future; I am so inspired by homes and interiors that I find it difficult to pick just one. What I do know though, is that no matter how hard I fight it, I would one day like to live in a big city, with an enormous view of tiny cars and people down below. I find myself intrigued by the modernity of apartment life, the minimalism they so can possess, the clean lines and simplicity of a tan couch and coffee table, with maybe a book shelf or two.

As hard as it is to sum up, these are my top picks from New York Spring Fashion Week. Betsey Johnson will always be a favourite, I'm never going to get over all of her wild colours and tongue in cheek attitude. Rachel Zoe was truly beautiful, yet on trend in every sense of the word. The cool kids lapped it up at Jeremy Scott; Sky Ferreira, Cory Kennedy and of course the eponymous Mark 'The Cobrasnake' Hunter were all spotted front row and backstage. I loved Badley Mischka, they were a standout for me because I've never paid them as much attention as they deserve; every single dress this season was flawless. Peaches Geldof surprised me yet again with her latest looks - I don't care what anyone thinks, the potty-mouthed, spoilt little daddy's girl will always have a special place in my heart. She makes me want to put my nose ring back in.

Overall, an incredibly inspiring group of shows, I'm looking forward to incorporating elements from these looks into my summer wardrobe.

Come Monday I normally feel like extending my weekend an extra day. Working full time obviously means I can’t do this, so instead of sleeping in like I so often desire, I usually just end up skipping the gym, eating all my meals in bed and generally doing as little as productively possible throughout the day.

But today is different. Today I feel motivated to start my week right! Today I feel like making plans and sticking to them, not eating food that comes out of a packet and staying focused on all of the things I’ve started and have yet to finish.

On My Mind:

• Saving Money – With plans to move out sometime early next, it’s recently dawned on me (for real this time) that I need to learn how to budget properly. At this point in time I’ve found it’s all too easy to become accustomed to the notion that “I’ll save next week”, so it’s important to me that I actually develop good spending habits, so that when I’m in the situation where it’s not an option to buy 3 pairs of shoes on an average shopping trip, I won’t be tempted to do so.

• Healthy Living – Unfortunately over winter I fell into the trap of letting the colder weather get the better of me, so I’m excited to get back into the healthy lifestyle I was so consistent with over summer. With warmer weather literally right around the corner – I’m talking the end of this week – I feel like I’ve finally woken up to the reality check I’ve been trying to give myself for weeks. I’m talking bathing suits here people; it’s no laughing matter.

It's been awhile, but I finally feel like I'm getting back on track (blogging-wise, that is)
So much has been happening these past few months, all of which revolve around my job, which I love so much. Now that I've settled in there, I feel like I'm ready to immerse myself in blogging again. I recently bought myself a Macbook Pro, something I've been dreaming about owning for months. And let me tell you, it's definitely worth the hefty price tag, it's my new favourite thing and I take it with me everywhere!
As far as purchases go, I almost feel like I've developed a shopping addiction. However, according to scientific evidence (or some dodgy article I read in a trashy women's mag) people who shop on a daily basis are happier. And I'm pretty happy so I'm going to give some credit to my need to buy things everywhere I go. As of late I've been buying lots of things for my bedroom makeover (which is finally taking place, hallelujah!) I've bought a large black and white print which I plan on putting above my bed, as well as a new bedding set + lots more bits and pieces to come. I feel like I'm finally making my bedroom space more fashion and work friendly which is inspiring.
I have a steadily increasing pile of magazines on my desk as well as a ton of blogs and fashion sites to catch up on so I better get to that.

The past few weeks have been a blur, my favourite kind of blur. I’m still trying to get the hang of squeezing blogging into the blur, it’s a working process but one that I’m committed to perfecting. I really hate that I’ve been MIA, it wasn’t until a few days ago that I actually realised how much I’ve missed blogging.

On the subject of blogging, I’ve recently discovered the importance of having a comfortable work space when creating new posts. At present, I have one broken computer [fixed at time of post] and a netbook; which is fabulous for facebooking in bed and re-blogging on tumblr but unfortunately, is not enough for me to really properly blog from. So at the moment I’m in the process of creating a new workspace at home; it’s not going to happen overnight but I’ve got lots of ideas that I’m sure will keep me occupied until I can start turning these thoughts into actions (purchases!)

In the meantime, I'm looking forward to posting a little more consistently again. It's always nice to take a break from something you do on a regular basis, but I mean really; enough is enough!

Today I was offered an Assistant Visual Merchandising position at Cotton On.
Words cannot define how overwhelmed and excited I feel; nor can they define how scared shitless I am! But it's a good kind of scared shitless, because I'm ready to throw myself into this exciting new chapter of my life (cue thoughtful pause, followed by several murmured "awwws" from the audience. )
Anyway, I would just like to say thank-you to everyone who has supported me in "paving my career"; (ie. anyone who has been on the end of one of my "gonna get a job"speeches.) I'm very grateful to have such a wonderful, supportive family, as well as lovely friends, an amazing best friend and a ~~adorable~~ robust man friend, whom has helped me in more ways than I ever thought possible.

My Sunday Feeling is this fabulous little Byron Bay-based label, run by designer Melody Jasmine. Inspired by 60's & 70's craftwork, Melody constructs these amazing floaty creations that look like they blossomed from a meadow of flowers; her dresses are simply so beautiful to look at I feel almost overwhelmed when I pore through her collections. It's very Australian as well, which I love.

Hankies - Seriously, they're good for like, one maybe two blows?
Trying to wake up before noon and failing miserably. My bedtime is around 4-5am, so it makes it difficult.

After poring through the Ready-To-Wear collections from both New York and London Fashion Week, I have to say that Jeremy Scott stood out to me the most, hands down. It's like he literally wrenched my heart right out of my chest; I am infatuated with it. The sheer ridiculousness of it is what makes me love it so much; it is a walking palette of a techno-coloured dream.

Burlesque is a guilty pleasure. The film itself is nothing special, but I didn't go to see it so I could be intellectually stimulated; I went for the pretty costumes, 'they're-gonna-break-into-song-at-any-moment' anticipation, amazing Louboutins, and incredible make-up. It was a delicious pile of girly goodness and visually, it was well worth the watch. There's something so incredibly feminine and sexy about the concept of Burlesque; albeit, it can be somewhat tacky at times. Nevertheless though, I've never really taken an interest in it until now. There's so much history surrounding it, it kind of fascinates me.

What I associate with Valentines Day will always be pretty things; pink flowers, majestic red boxes of chocolates, home-made cards, lingerie, cupcakes and other treats. I will never forget the episode of The OC where Sandy surprises Kirsten with a gigantic heart shaped box of chocolates. I always wanted one of those.

I cannot believe it's been nearly a month since I last posted. I guess it's safe to say that December has consumed me.
First and foremost, I completed my Certificate IV in Fashion Business at the Melbourne School of Fashion. It kind of surprised me how nice it felt to finish it. Alongside that, all of the Christmas madness that comes with working in retail decided to take over so I've been working a lot. I'm still trying to get used to juggling everything so I'm looking forward to finding some much-needed balance. Once 2010 ends things will settle down for sure, and then I can get started on enjoying my summer. I'm making some plans which is exciting! Anyway, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and spent some quality time with loved ones like I did. 2010 was a good year, and I'm excited to see what happens in the next one. Ok, end cliche.

I've officially jumped onto the Rihanna bandwagon; it took me awhile, but she's finally won me over.

This video is so beautiful, I especially love the saturated colours that make everything look pink and lovely.

I truly believed that the combination of pretty pastels and her fiery red hair would make everything look kind of garish, but miraculously, it works.

And looooook, the couture edition of her upcoming album Loud is so pretty. I don't even buy CD's anymore but I still want it.

Sex and the City in Film

Any Sex & the City fan will tell you that both of the films that followed the successful tv show (particularly the second) lacked the substance that a 30 minute episode never failed to provide. The feeling of satisfaction, the vague impression that perhaps you had learnt something, was nowhere to be found. In short, it just wasn't the same.

This however, doesn't change how visually and stylistically appealing I found both of the movies. I can watch them over and over again, not for the plot lines, or the cheesy jokes, but for the clothes, for the colours, for the style. 

And even though both films absolutely scream with decadence and an almost grotesque sense of 'excess', its always nice to admire it from a safe distance.

It's unfortunate that both films will never be able to live up to their successor, but at least they're a little bit of fun. 

At least their clothes are nice.
